One of the rarest of Ontario wildflowers is the Painted Trillium.  There are several different varieties of Trillium, all blooming in the spring.  Most common is the white Trillium.  All of them have a single flower and three leaves growing on a single stem.  As they are a protected species, it is illegal to pick them, since doing so kills the plant.
