Where the Muskoka River falls into Go Home Lake, there is a
spot just above the falls called The Slide. This is where
the water rushes over the smooth rock, encountering few obstructions,
and creating amazing reflections and patterns in the water. In
spring runoff, the smaller obstructions are covered with foam,
while the smoother rocks cause the water to flow in sculpted
shapes, mounds, stripes and crystal-clear patches which reflect
the sky, the clouds and the opposite bank. The granite
beneath the water is patched with different colours, and in
places, it looks like a map of the Earth's surface.
